FIE Approved Gear
Fencing gear can be pretty expensive when starting, and if your lucky enough to qualify for an international level tournament you can quickly see costs skyrocket!! If you are interested in saving money, Blue Gauntlet has some good news for you. We have holidays sales from time to time. The best way now to save is to keep an eye out for our deal of the day specials. Our clearance sections feature some great FIE level gear for an economical price.
Currently older FIE Gear is still valid for international tournaments this is often overlooked many times by fencers and coaches.
Getting the right gear also means getting a good price for it. In this new post pandemic market we enter, being competitive includes great prices and we do our part to help.
Older FIE gear from Allstar and Uhlmann is a good way to circumvent cost for the fencer. A jacket from 2014 still has the same protection as a new 2021 jacket from off the production line.
The key is to look out for the number 800N. This is the magic number for FIE rated gear. Masks will come in 1600 newtons but clothing such as glove, jacket and knickers are rated usually at 800N.
Make sure that your item has an FIE tag on it. This is on all FIE level gear by default, NO FIE level equipment should be missing this tag. It holds the year the item was certified/made as well as the manufacturer
It should look something like this..
