COMPACT FENCING EQUIPMENT TESTER
The equipment tester
is designed to test both fencing weapons and body cords or floor cords.
BODY CORD TESTING
1.
Plug the three pronged
connector of a body cord into the REEL
END jacks of the tester. If
the body cord is for a foil, also attach the alligator clip to the ground (GND)
post near the REEL END jacks.
2.
Plug the weapon end of the body cord into the
appropriate socket on the tester. If the body cord is for an epee, plug the
other 3-prong connector into the second set of 3-prong jacks.
3.
If the body cord is good, all 3 LEDs (A, B, and C) will
light. Wiggle the wires near both ends
of the body cord. If the LEDs stay lit,
the connections are solid. If an LED
flashes, the connections for that wire (A, B, or C) are loose and must be
tightened. Another possibility is that
there is a break in a wire, usually near a connector. Broken wires must be cut back to the break and re-attached to the
connectors.
MASK CORD TESTING
1. Clip each end of the mask cord to the GND posts.
2. If the mask cord is good, the red LED will light.
3. Wiggle
the wires near both ends of the body cord.
If the red LED stays lit, the connections are solid.
WEAPONS TESTING (Always test the Body Cord first BEFORE
using it to test a weapon!)
FOIL
1. Plug the 3-pronged connector of a body cord into the REEL END jacks of the tester.
2. Plug the weapon end of the body cord into the socket
on the foil.
3. If the weapon is good, the green LED will light. When
the tip of the foil is pressed, the green
LED should go out.
4. If a foil test weight is used with this tester, the
weight should be pressed down to turn off the green LED. If the spring is
good, when the weight is released, the weight will be raised by the spring and
the green LED will light again.
EPEE
1. Plug a three pronged connector of a body cord into the
REEL END jacks of the tester.
2. Plug the other end of the body cord into the sockets
on the epee.
3. If the weapon is good, the red LED will remain dark.
When the tip of the epee is pressed, the red LED should light. If
the red LED lights without pressing
the tip, there is a short in the wires, tip, or socket of the epee.
4. If an epee test weight is used with this tester, the
weight should be pressed down to turn on the red LED. If the spring is
good, when the weight is released, the weight will be raised by the spring and
the red LED will turn off.
